Which SAP GUI release should you use?
SAP recommends that you always install the latest available release of SAP GUI. For Windows, 7.60 is the latest version. Support for this release runs until April 12, 2022. Version 7.70 is planned. GUI for Windows 7.60
Using one of the download links for SAP GUI 7.20, I download the executable file gui720c3.exe to my machine (I have Windows 7 operating system): and execute it when download is complete. I get the self-extracted folder.

Download – Step by Step
Step 1 – Open software downloads on sap.com
In the first step, you open the Software Downloads page on the SAP homepage. Sign in to the SAP ONE Support Launchpad with email or user name.
Sign in with your S-user.
Step 2 – Selection Product SAP GUI
In this next step, you select Downloads from the drop-down menu in the header.
SAP Software Center Downloads
In the Search term field, enter the product you want. In our case, the SAP GUI for Windows is 7.60. Connect press the magnifying glass right next to this field. In the results list you can now see the available products.
Step 3 – SAP GUI Download
In the last step, simply double-click on the last entry. You will then be prompted to authenticate with your S-User again. Then select a local directory as the destination for downloading gui760_02_1-80003144.exe. ready! Now you can start the sapgui installation

Installation of GUI in Windows
- Double click SapGuiSetup.exe and install as normal software.
- Give the instance entries by click on new entry button and specify application host name, Instance number and SID of the server.
- If there are more number of entries was present, and then copies the file Saplogon.ini on already existing desktop.
GUI initialization: GUI is initialized by the following INI files
- saplogon.ini
- sapmsg.ini
- saproute.ini
- sapdoccd.ini
saplogon.ini – This file consists of the system details like name of the server, SID and instance umber. When we click on new tab in SAP GUI to enter description of the new server after saving it will be entered into this file. Without this file we cannot logon into the system and there will be no entries to logon from SAPGUI.
sapmsg.ini – This file is used to identify least loaded server in the logon group, if logon load balance is configured. This file consists of message server details.
saproute.ini -This file is used to communicate with SAP systems over the sap router.
sapdoccd.ini – This file is initialized when the library is accessed. It contains the path of library.
Installation of GUI in Linux
